Popcaan after Sting 2011

In this episode they are talking about Sting’s 2011 aftermath and, if you have time, toward the end of it, there is one very recent Popcaan’s little interview right after his Sting performance, where he did so well.

Kartel and Gaza Slim in court again January 9



Before leaving UK for Barbados, where she did performed for a private event packed with celebrities, superstar Rhianna tweeted lines from Teacha’s hit song ‘Clarks’, writing that

“she prefers , Clarks for di summer, Clarks for di winter, Clarks for the water. Ahwoe’.

Meanwhile Vybz Kartel and Gaza Slim, two of the song performers, are expected to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on January 9th to face allegations of perverting the course of justice, a charge that can attract a sentence of over five yearsLet’s see what 2012 will bring to the Portmore Gaza Empire.

Khago received death threats

Dancehall artist Khago, real name Ricardo Gayle, received dead threats over the phone on sunday morning, from an unknown caller. Khago’s management team said they are taking the threat very seriously; contacting law enforcement officials to investigate the matter.

Khago said that that this incident won’t deter him from continuing his mission to showcase positive songs within what he calls a corrupt music industry.

Kiprich in Africa




After a successful Sting 2011, where he clashed and won over competitor Merciless, Kiprich went to Africa, where he performed at a show called ‘2012 Resolution’ in Accra, Ghana on December 31st.

Kiprich also performed at the GT Taylor Xtravaganza show in Black River on Christmas Day.

After Ne-Yo’s withdraw , rapper Eve has become the latest inclusion on the lineup for the upcoming Shaggy and Friends Charity Concert in January 2012.

Eve joins Grammy-winning artist, Lauryn Hill and Deniece Williams as international acts scheduled to perform at the charity event. Eve was already in Jamaica for Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards this past February, where she performed the  single, He Is At My House with  Dancehall superstar, Lady Saw while also receiving the Friend of Reggae Award.

Lost Angel Riddim produced by So Unique Records is making  headlines internationally.

Elvis Redwood is the name of the man behind one of the coolest riddim of the year. Redwood was once the principal beat maker for Armzhouse Records, scoring major hits alongside his friend, fellow producer Rado, but moved on to start his own label in 2010.

He still keeps a strong link with Armzhouse Records. His first project on his own was called ‘Blue Ge’ featuring artists like Elephant Man, Kibaki, Gaza Slim, Sheba, Iyara, Lisa Hyper, Kim ‘Gaza Kim’ Hamilton, Predator and General B.

After Lost Angel Riddim everybody is waiting for the next cool riddim for 2012 from him.

On Christmas day Steel Pan was the focus at an international event – Tropicalfete Countdown 2011 Top 100 International Caribbean Songs for the year.

Ricardo Greenaway, world-renowned steel pan percussionist, was given the hard enough  task of performing the top 5 songs for this year on steel drums; which he did to perfection.

1. Man Down by Rihanna, 2. On the Floor by Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull, 3. Summer Time by Vybz Kartel, 4. Wotless by Kes Band and 5. Advantage by Machel Montano.

Mr. Ricardo opened up his set with last year’s number one song, Gyptian’s “Hold You”.

Ricardo’s renditions of the songs were “flawless.” The national instrument of  Trinidad and Tobago were in the spotlight.
