Shaggy is on top of Reggae Album Billboard this week after just two weeks of launching his new album Summer in Kingston.
Topping the Charts is nothing new for Shaggy!
He’s been on the top spot already five times since 1994 when his first album reached a good position but didn’t reach number one.
Was in 1995 that the Boombastic singer reached the top spot. Was 1997 when he released Midnite Lover that stayed number one in the Reggae Album Billboard forever.
In 2002 Lucky Day was listed number one and also in 2007 with Intoxication. Mr Lover Lover: the Best of Shaggy Part 1 (2002), Clothes Drop (2005), and The Best of Shaggy (2008) peaked at numbers two and four.
‘Summer in Kingston’ also debuted at number 29 on R’n’B/Hip Hop Charts.
Ziggy Marley with Wild & Free s on 3rd position, Stephen Marley is 4th with his latest album Revelation Part I : The Roots Of Life, Reggae Gold from VP Records is 5th and Damian Marley’s ‘Distant Relatives’ is on 6th position. Going back to Summer In Kingston, Shaggy says :
It’s a feel-good album, a fan appreciation album for a recession price, as I call it: $2.99. Eight tracks of eargasmic pleasure, digital only.
A hard copy would mean paying for distribution, packaging and so on, but if it’s digital you can make it as low as possible so all of your fans can get it.
