Shaggy, Sean Paul, Damian Marley, Beenie Man, Marcia Griffith, Lady Saw, Bounty Killer, Wayne Wonder and others will battle for the title of “Artist Of The Decade (2001-2010)” Award at the Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) set to take place on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at The East Lawn of the historical Devon House site, Hope Road in Kingston, Jamaica.

This category was established this year to honor the artist with the biggest impact and hits. All the names involved Shaggy, Sean Paul, Damian Marley, Beenie Man, Marcia Griffith…. are all well recognized veteran international artists with a lot of hits and airplay as well as many international tours on their shoulders.

But for once let’s talk about the ladies.

Take Marcia Griffith, for example, she has always been associated with excellence. Dubbed the Queen of reggae music, Marcia has in the past decade, established herself as an Ambassador of Jamaican music.

An original member of Bob Marley’s legendary harmony singers, Marcia is credited with recording a number of big hits songs including Dreamland, I Shall Sing and the perennial favorite Electric Boogie.

Also Dancehall Queen Lady Saw is another well accomplished Jamaican female artist with so many awards, hits and long list of success in her career too long to mention. The same is true for female reggae artist Etana The Strong One.

There are also six talented Jamaican female artist are being nominated for Vocalist Female Of The Year.Their names are: Queen Ifrica, Etana, Cherine Anderson, Alaine, Tami Chinn and Phyllisia.

Queen Ifrica is used to score prizes and she also proved more than once that she is music lioness on the rise with hits like “Daddy” and “Below the Waist”; Etana the strong one has just released her album “Free Expression” and has already several new songs from the new album topping charts in Jamaica and internationally.

Cherine Anderson is still a young artist but in few years she became well established and known for her dancehall soul unique skills, some of her hits include “Shine On Jamaica” and “Don’t Stop” as well for her acting skills and her charity work.

Singer Alaine was very busy all last year and she dominated charts with songs as “Your Eyes Only” and “You Are Me”. Tami Chinn had also a busy year and had the collaboration with Tifa,”Certified Diva” brought more ranking. Last nominee among the ladies is Phyllisia better known for her combination song with Jah Cure “Unconditional Love.”
