61st Grammy Awards 2019 Best Reggae Album Nominees

61st GRAMMY Awards Dates Announced




As every year during this time the annual Grammy Awards nominees gets revealed for all the categories, including Best Reggae Album.

This year nominations for the 61st Grammy Awards 2019 in the category of Best Reggae Album include five new reggae album released in 2018. The 61st Annual Grammy Awards, will be held on February 10, 2019, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.


BEST REGGAE ALBUM – NOMINEES 2019


For both Jamaican reggae artists Protoje and Etana this is the first nomination, what makes Etana‘s special is that this is the Fourth female nomination ever! So we must congratulate we the reggae Queen!

Before her only 3 other women were nominated in the Reggae Album category: Judy Mowatt (1986), Rita Marley (1992) and Sister Carol (1997) , but didn’t win, but still made history!

This is also the first nomination in the Reggae category for superstar Sting, nominated with Shaggy for their collaborative studio album 44/786. Shaggy is a veteran this is his fifth nomination, he already won a Grammy in 1996 for his legendary album “Bombastic”.

Black Uhuru won the first Reggae Grammy, when the category started in 1985 with “Anthem”, while Ziggy Marley is a super veteran since he already won 7 Grammy both solo and with The Melody Makers.
