Buju Banton, real name Mark Myrie, freedom fight  against United States justice system is not easy.

Yesterday a federal judge – James Moody -rejected Buju Banton’s application for a new trial. It’s not all with the bad news. The Reggae artist  could be also facing more prison time  if  slapped with an additional 5 years behind bars on top of the 10 he is now serving.

The federal judge didn’t even want to discuss the case and dismissed it saying that the Atlanta Appeal Court decision was final, since they outlined that the Grammy-winning singer was convicted with sufficient evidence and so he says there is no need for a new trial.

Banton’s attorney, David Markus, says he will not give up on his fight for freedom for his client and said he’s ready to appeal again and even take this to the Supreme Court, if necessary. Adding he won’t stop fighting for his friend and brother.

Buju was convicted last year February on four counts of drug and gun charges, the gun charge  was  then dropped and shortly after Buju was convicted to serve 10 years in a federal prison. Now judge Moody told the court that since the appeal court states that there was sufficient evidence to convict Banton on the gun charge, he could not rule it out.

Reggae icon Buju Banton is now facing 15 years when he goes before the judge for a new sentencing hearing. Free Buju Banton.
