Jamaican reggae dancehall super star Vybz Kartel scores again and this time he is scoring big.
Kartel’s studio album “Pon Di Gaza Mi Sey”, released in October 2011, is one of the 50 projects on the provisional shortlist for Best Reggae Album Award at next year Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles.
“Pon Di Gaza Mi Sey” was released just a month after Vybz Kartel’s arrest last year and features also some of Addi Teacha’s hit songs that date back even to 2008.
Among the songs Virginity, Like A Movie, Life We Living, Romping Shop with Spice and many others.
The recently released list is dominated by Dancehall acts including previous winner Sean Paul and his album Tomahawk Technique, Busy Signal‘s Reggae Music Again, the artist is currently still incarcerated but set to be free in the next two weeks, Gentleman with Diversity, Mr Vegas‘s album Sweet Jamaica and Mental Maintenance by Konshens are also in the drafted list.
Toots Hibbert and Jimmy Cliff, who are also past Best Reggae Album winners, made the preliminary cut.
