Last Sunday Best Of The Best is been monumental for Reggae and Dancehall Music. A whole day filled with an intense lined up of  best live performances from some of the Top Jamaican artists.

You already know I’m talking about day 2 of Best of The Best 2011 at the Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. Heavy weights only.

The event this year was divided in 2 days Day 1 for hip hop and R’n’b and Day 2 for Reggae & Dancehall acts.

Last Sunday show attracted about 15.000 people, and that’s a huge number! The line up of artists was incredible for one day, very intense with a lot of  live shows and performances to follow, mucho Fiyaaaa and they kept adding mas more.

The gates opened around 3 o’clock but I wasn’t there. Was Taurrus Riley, around 5.30, that sparked the first fire speaking about peace, unity, love, war, social issues. He and his band delivered an amazing performance.

Sanchez was next, followed by Allison Hinds the soca diva, Danielle and beautiful Cherine the Rebel Gayls.

Tifa, Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor and Chino, Etana, Romain Virgo, Richie Loop, DJ ZJ Liquid, not exactly in this order, all delivered very good performances.

DJ Khaled popped up from his bus tour while was turning into evening and generated a lot of buzz given the numbers of flash, lights, clicks and camera that started going nuts following him from backstage to stage. So when Busta Rhymes shortly followed he got unnoticed to the most and could take the stage peacefully without the harassment of the paparazzi.

Khaled had several guests on stage: Rick Ross, Ace Hood, Busta Bus and also Ludacris that did a quick  cameo. They all kept it very hood!

I-Octane was full of energy,  delivering an incredible performance, in my opinion one of the best of the best of the night.Precise, vibrant, in good shape, he sang his latest hits and the crowd bounced with him the whole time.

Assassin aka Agent Sasco also did good, no matter who he’s beefing with. He’s was excellent on stage, great style, great flow, amazing delivery and instant connection with the audience. Good Over Evil, Talk How Mi Feel one of his latest hit (against Kartel) and he also did snippets of Everywhere We Go, Wah Do Dem Guy Deh, and Hand Inna Di Air.

Shortly after Assassin’s live performance a huge white screen took place on stage and Vybz Kartel got introduced. He was live from Club Jamaica in Kingston via Satellite. Happy to be in touch with Miami. He was with a bunch of gyals, I recognized Gaza Slim as well as Shawn Storm in the background. The Teacha started doing medley of his greatest hits I think the all thing lasted about 18 mnts with no rest for Kartel and his dancers.

He started with Touch A Button, then Clarks with people screaming every line of it, shared the mic with Gaza Slim that killed it!

Following in a crescendo was then the time for World Boss to perform his Rvssian produced hit Jeans and Fitted and he kept adding snippets of his famous hits, delivering a pleasant medley going from Bicycle to Romping Shop and ending with Bad up U Mad, one of his latest tune.( Shabba/Vybz recent beef )

The night was  really still blooming and the stage was ready for another legendary act: Damian & Stephen Marley which worked, as usual, a very dope set that included Welcome to Jamrock, The Mission,Traffic Jam…and also a snippet of the remix Mykal Rose’s Shootout before inviting
Spragga Benz on stage with them to be feature in Jah Army ,with the audience really going craaazy and that was a pretty big army!

Miss Fluffy Kitty Bigged up the Rastas taking stage after the Marley’s show and making everybody crack at her jokes! Maaad fun.

Shabba Ranks was on right after. His show was not short of Incredible. His voice, his tone, his spirit, his moves, his charisma, the level of the performance, the artist, the man, the moves….the biggest thing ever witnessed on a live stage!

I’m actually out of words…a real Dancehall Veteran and a Grammy Winner that branded that best of the best’s stage with his unique style. Unbelievable! He’s coming back strong with his latest song “None of Dem” produced by the McGregor Brothers Genius & Chino.

A lot of pics, videos, drops, extras so don ‘t be surprise if Best Of  The Best 2011 will come up again in the next days.

Best Of The Best 2011 lived up to its promises, a legendary event not to be missed for the true Jamrock lovers in Miami and around the world. Big Ups!
