Busy Signal Reggae Music Again

BUSY SIGNAL “REGGAE MUSIC AGAIN” (VP  RECORDS)

Better known for his sharp-spitting rhymes on hardcore dancehall hits like “Tic Toc” (remixed by M.I.A. and Rye Rye) and “Wine Pon De Edge,” Jamaican reggae dancehall artist Busy Signal emerges as a charismatic roots reggae artist on his forthcoming album Reggae Music Again, in stores in U.S. on April 24th on VP Records.

From the sequenced beats that dominated Busy’s three previous albums, the intricate, multi-layered one-drop rhythms heard on Reggae Music Again were created by some of Jamaica‘s most acclaimed musicians (Robbie Lyn, Dean Fraser, Kirk Bennett), and recorded live at Kingston’s legendary Tuff Gong studios.

Keith Hudson Rasta communication Greensleves records

KEITH HUDSON – RASTA COMMUNICATION DELUXE (Greensleeves) -ALBUM

Keith Hudson(1947-1984), the celebrated singer, songwriter and producer known as the “Dark Prince of Reggae,” will always be remembered for his classic 1978 album ‘Rasta Communication’.

This seminal release was a departure from his previous popularized dub sound and solidified him as a true roots reggae musician.

Recorded at Randy’s, Channel One & Chalk Farm with a final tweak from Prince Jammy at King Tubby’s STUDIO, the album featured a line-up or Jamaica’s finest musicians including Family Man & Carlton Barrett and Sly & Robbie.

Greensleeves has completely remastered and expanded the original ten-track album to a double-disc 27 track deluxe edition that will be released on April 24, 2012.

The second disc features full dub companions including the previously unreleased dub to “I Broke The Comb.”

The package offers many extras for reggae lovers, including all four songs from two classic Keith Hudson 12″ singles as well as two rare Jamaican single mixes of “Rasta Country” and “Jonah,” which are making their CD debut.

groundation building an ark

GROUNDATION – BUILDING AN ARK (VP/ Dub Rockers)

Hailing from California’s Bay Area, Groundation will unleash their new studio album, entitled Building An Ark, in stores on April 24, 2012 via Dub Rockers/VP/Universal Music.

This 10-track set will be the first release off the new imprint Dub Rockers from reggae giant VP Records.

The internationally acclaimed 9-piece band stays true to the essence of their dynamic sound – capturing the true spirit of roots reggae while blending elements of jazz, funk, salsa and transcendental dub.

The album’s hypnotic funk-based rhythms move from earthy percussion-based tracks to complex impressionistic dub compositions.

This sophisticated selection of genre-bending sounds provides the perfect template for some of their most fiery militant and conscious lyrics to date.

“poignant, powerful and brilliant musical constructs…lyrics are sharp and militantly positive, almost demanding unification….jazz trumpet runs that would make Miles Davis wince in astonishment…best album to date from…one of the greatest bands playing music today” – EARMILK

“a neo-roots musical revolution…may go down as one of the greatest [albums] ever produced…” -THE DUBSIDE

“While holding on firmly to reggae roots, they skip the slavish devotion that snares many American reggae bands and update the sound in natural direction…the lazy sway of the beat and lush arrangements offer both simplicity and the novelty of fractal layered details.– JESTER JAY

“Perfect … more proof why Groundation is incontestably one of the best Reggae bands of our time.” -RUDEBOY REGGAE
