Dancehall News: Reggae and Dancehall artists came together, this past 25 june in Portmore,to raise founds for Dj Ninjaman who remains in jail since 2009 for related charges to a murder.

Supreme Promotions, the same team that organizes Sting, is the force behind this found raising benefit concert ,that was staged to help Ninjaman with his court fees.

Ninjaman is known for his fierce rhymes and his unique stle in live performances that created some of the most memorable moments at Sting Festival.

The event was staged in Portmore and was packed with big names from Reggae & Dancehall world, but unluckly it wasn’t really packed with patrons no matter how many big names where involved, which is sad. 

Among the acts on the bill :

Josey Wales, Beanie Man, Bounty Killer, Charlie Chaplain, Leroy Gibbons, Luciano, Triston Palmer, Admiral Bailey, Jimmy Riley, Major Mackerel, Professor Nuts, Merciless, Tanto Metro, George Nooks, Macka Diamond, Lady G, Stacious, D’Angel, Mr G, Foxy Brown, Spice, Cobra, Khago, I-Wayne, Wickerman and Barky, Junior Reid & Family, Twin of Twins, Friso Kid, Admiral Tibet, Nitty Kutchie, Hezron, Danny English, Determine, Mr Lexx, Tanto Blacks, Face, and Round Head.Sound Systems of the night  included Stone Love, Sky Juice and Tony Matterhorn & Vybz Kartel.

The murder case involving Ninjaman, whose real name is Desmond Ballentine, has been put off until November 28.The Jamaiacan deejay is charged jointly with his son, Jamiel, Seymour Samuels and Dennis Clayton for the murder of Richard Johnson.

Samuels is on bail while the others are in custody. It is alleged that on> March 16, 2009, Johnson was sweeping his yard in the company of a friend on Mall Road, St Andrew, when a motor car with three men aboard drove up. An argument developed between Johnson’s friend and the men.The men reportedly left but later returned and shot Johnson. Ninja Man turned himself in to the police shortly after the incident, after the police issued an advisory listing him as a person of interest in the case.
