David Rodigan Awarded With Honours
British veteran disc jockey David Rodigan has been awarded the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in Queen Elizabeth II’s New Years Honours list.
(The MBE is Britain’s fourth highest honour). David Rodigan is well known and respected all over the world : he played extensively all over Europe, North America and Jamaica enchanting crowds of all ages till the morning lights.
Sir Rodigan, 60 years old, is one of the top ranking reggae deejays with followers and fans worldwide. He helped introduce grassroots reggae to British audiences in the late 1970s when he began working on BBC Radio London.
During the last 30 years, Rodigan has always showed his affection for reggae music through several good radio programs in the United Kingdom such as Roots Rockers on London’s Capital FM and the Sunday night reggae show on Kiss FM.
David Rodigan is also well known in Jamaica because of his popular clashes with Barry G Gordon.
