Dancehall disruptor Intence brings his expensive tastes to New York City on his new flex anthem, “PALM ANGEL” via VP Records.
Intence leaves his mark on New York City with the debuts of his “On the Radar Freestyle”, scroll down for it, and the music video for his recent single “PALM ANGEL,” both released on August 3.
Intence, real name Tashawn Gabbidon, was inspired to be in the music business by his Father Stephen “Axe” Gabbidon who also was an artist known as “Daddy Axe” that owned a sound system called “Solo Passion” and changed it to “Category 5″.
Since his debut on the music scene Intence has been dropping hits on hits, and his latest project “PALM ANGEL” follows up a long list of viral anthems.
On the track, produced by MXSSIVH (Trippie Redd, Skillibeng) and Waysett, Intence pushes his sound further afield, listing off his luxury brand preferences in the process. As ever, he’s as comfortable trying out new flows as he is slipping into a Moncler jacket.
Intence recorded the song during his first stay in New York City in early January. The music video, directed by KLO Visionz (Kay Flock, AJ Tracey) and dropping on August 2, was shot across the following days and features the Jamaican artist roaming about the city and sampling the local hospitality. On his return trip in April, he made a few more stops.
In addition to packing his debut U.S. show at Club Amazura in Queens, he passed through the On the Radar Radio studio, becoming the first dancehall artist of his generation to drop a freestyle on the platform.
On the Radar Radio, a NYC-based online platform that highlights rising and established artists (ranging from local acts to Drake and Central Cee) recently had Intence stop by their studio, making him the first modern dancehall artist to drop a freestyle on the show.

In a sea of predominantly American talent, Intence’s patois-heavy wordplay was a welcome twist on On the Radar’s typical content, as signaled by the audience response.
The freestyle adds to a series of recent triumphs for the Jamaican deejay in NYC, including packing his debut U.S. show at Club Amazura in Queens, and recording the flex anthem and video “PALM ANGEL.”
“PALM ANGEL” follows the popular singles “MUGGER,” “OutRAGEous,” and “DEEDs” in the lead-up to Intence’s debut album, VOYAGE. It will be his first project since 2021, when he dropped both the Wounded EP and the Public Enemy No. 1 mixtape.
That same year, New York Times writer Jody Rosen hailed Intence’s song “Yahoo Boyz” as “the biggest dancehall smash of 2021.”
“PALM ANGEL” is available on all digital platforms, grab it or add it to your playlist via the Apple Music widget posted on this page. Watch Intence “Palm Angel” official music video below.
