Jamaican Dancehall artist Tommy Lee Sparta has been hospitalized this past Monday after a serious accident with correctional officers at Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Kingston, Jamaica.
Tommy Lee has been incarcerated for a little more than a year now, after pleading guilty to illegal possession of fire arm and ammunition on March 2021 and sentenced to three years behind bars.
While serving his sentence at Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre, Tommy Lee Sparta had been assaulted and subdued by a correctional officers in that facility, after he refused to re-enter in his cell following the distribution of breakfast.
Sources told the Jamaican press that several correctional officers had used batons to beat the entertainer and more horrible details have emerged.
A raid was conducted at the prison this past Tuesday and a number of electronic devicesnot allowed in jail like phones were confiscated to various inmates.
Un-customed cigarettes, alcohol, and an assortment of lighters and other smoking paraphernalia were among items reportedly discovered stashed in the staff locker room.

An inmate who was present at the time of the beating and who asked for his identity to be withheld alleges that on the day of the beating , more than ten officers appeared at Lee’s cell and questioned him about a voice-note and a song.
The inmate says Lee refused to give them information and a total of three brooms were used to hit the entertainer along with a bat.
The inmate went on to say that all brooms were broken and Lee was beaten by over ten wardens at the facility and that when he fell, the officers used their feet in the what he calls an attack against Sparta.
The gothic dancehall deejay has been described motionless after the altercation and was later placed on a stretcher and taken to the medical centre at the facility.
Later he was transported with an ambulance to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) under heavy guard by correctional officers and the police. We still await more details after the probe.
Last October prison authorities denied knowledge of reports that administrative action taken against correctional officers after tens of thousands of dollars reportedly confiscated from Russell’s cell went missing.
Immediately after the incident Tommy Lee’s management, Boss Lady Muzik, informed all fans, friends, and family that they are monitoring very closely what’s happening with Tommy Lee, real name Leroy Russell, thanking fans for good vibes sent toward the “Blessings” deejay in hope of a speed recovery.
Sparta’s attorney, Donauhe Martins, is also vigilant and monitoring close the situation, and the atmosphere is currently pretty heavy at The Tower Street Correctional Centre after this accident. Sparta’s attorney said:
“I can’t comment on it for a number of reasons, chief among them I haven’t been able to see [him] because he has been undergoing treatment since this morning,” Martin said yesterday.
Inmates who witnessed the brawl, some of whom recorded the incident, have expressed their displeasure at the situation. The Department Of Correctional Service reportedly launched an investigation on the matter.
