Hopefully Buju Banton may be released from prison in less than 4 years, after successfully striking a deal with prosecutors in these past days, as reported in the Tampa Bay Times, a South Florida news outlet.
In the report is stressed that the gun charges against Buju Banton have finally been dropped and his release has been scheduled for 2019.
As a part of the deal, Buju, which real name is Mark Myrie, will stop filing appeals, and in exchange the US will stop trying to hold him accountable for a gun carried by another man in the cocaine case for which he is currently serving ten years.
Fans of Buju remember that the gun charge could add another five years to his sentence, however, instead, he will be deported to Jamaica after his scheduled January 2019 release from prison.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that the settlement was approved by US District Judge James S. Moody earlier this week and that makes it pretty official.
real deal“Nearly two years ago, Moody threw out a 2011 conviction on the gun count after finding that a juror had inappropriately researched a legal theory relating to the charge.
Banton wanted the other verdicts tossed, too, but recently lost an appeal, returning the matter to Tampa,” the report said.
