Latest News On Buju Banton’s Trial For February 2013
Freedom Fighter and Reggae superstar Mark Myrie aka Buju Banton has finally some reason to celebrate a small victory in his fight for freedom.
Buju Banton, real name Mark Mirye, is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence in Tampa, Florida after being convicted on drug trafficking charges last year.
The Grammy-winning reggae singer is also facing an additional five years on a gun charge.
A juror testified at Sam M Gibbon Court in Tampa, Florida , that the alleged misconduct of another juror, Teri Wright, was in fact discussed in the jury room but it doesn’t constitute enough of a concrete evidence to guarantee Buju a new trial since another juror is instead saying that he never heard or knew about the alleged misconduct.

Based on Chokwe Lumumba’s words, Buju Banton’s lawyer , everything is still hanging in the air right now and everything is in the hands of Federal Judge James Moody that has to make a ruling on whether or not Buju Banton was unfairly convicted which could lead to a new trial, which is what the whole world is hoping for.
Teri Wright, the juror at the center of the case gave in her computer hard discs, as previously ordered by the judge and a computer specialist hired by Banton’s legal team will search it for any trace of evidence of a misconduct.
