One of the latest dancehall riddim lit like fire right now is “13th Friday Riddim” produced by Seanizzle Records.
Packed with a star studded line up of Jamaican recording artists voicing on it, including producer Seanizzle, Demarco, Beenie Man, Govana, Busy Signal, I-Octane, Wasp, Nadg and Singer J, this is a special riddim because it features and re-ignites an old beef against Popcaan.
Both Demarco and Beenie Man the doctor are going hard against the Unruly Boss, with Beenie Man dissing Popcaan all the way, borrowing from Alkaline, using the word microwave, which is a popular Alkaline’s song aimed to Popcaan that has been released last year.
Popcaan never responded to “Microwave” and Alkaline doubled up releasing another diss track without an answer, which made Alka the rightful winner of the clash.
While Beenie Man years ago used to be cool with Popcaan, things took a twist and never got back to nice, a while ago, with dancehall star Beenie Man telling Poppy about his mother again, in a throw back of the infamous leaked video of Beenie disrespecting Popcaan’s mother Ms. Rhona last year, episode for which Beenie attracted some backlash on social medias.
Beenie Man starts his new tune going after Popcaan from the intro, with lyrics like this
“Me bloodclaat unnu really want to do this? Go suck your man mother,
Microwave never make when man a boil corn
When man a buss corn people life gone
Tell just born young bird no know storm.
Pussy you can’t win tha war ya dog so why try
Every Killy Killy dead anytime we drive by
Shot in a yo face cook skin fry eye
Every bullet connect like free WiFi”
Demarco goes in too and there are clear references to Popcaan and their beef as well and it’s rumored the whole 13th Friday Riddim itself its aimed at the Hotskull, with a clear reference to it him also in the riddim cover and in each and every song on this riddim.
Seems like the youth has not the sympathy of a lot of fellow artists theses days, including Mavado and Alkaline, there is a lot of beef for Poppi.
Beenie Man and Demarco are names cemented in dancehall music history, they are the foundation and real Generals in dancehall music, both artists are friends of Vybz Kartel and have always been Gaza.
