Tad’s Record is pleased to announce the release of another solid musical project: “Big Rock Riddim”, a new interpretation of the legendary ‘Real Rock Riddim’, which was originally released in the 1960s.
Big Rock Riddim features a great and well balanced line up of Jamaican recording artists, but is Brigadier Jerry, one of the great Jamaican artists of the 80s, to take the riddim.
The riddim is ‘drum&bass’ rendition of Studio One’s ‘Real Rock’ riddim, produced by Coxsone in 1967 with the Studio One house band Sound Dimension. Numerous versions followed, of which a few of the most famous are Augustus Pablo’s ‘El Rockers’ (1972), Barrington Levy with ‘Looking My Love'(1979), Willie Williams’ classic ‘Armagideon Time’ (1980) and Johnny Osbourne’s ‘No Ice Cream Sound’ (1992).
Briggy, blesses the record with his superb rendition of “Weh Dem Ago Do”, written by the Jamaican artist himself. Briggy‘s lyrics for “Weh Dem Ago Do” fly naturally over this riddim and leaves listeners bobbing their heads to this Raggamuffin tune.
This new juggling from famed Jamaican power music house Tad’s Records also showcases other note-worthy talents such as Richie spice, Chezidek, D-Medz, Anthony Cruz, Teflon, and Hezron.
Executive Producers Tad A. Dawkins, and Trad A. Dawkins Jnr.
As an anthem riddim in Reggae, all disc jockeys must have this release as a part of their collection to spin and create the highly demanded feel of the original dancehall sound system period of Reggae music that goes so well in the party season.
