Jamaican Music News: Mavado In New York & Buju Banton Moved To Different Jail
Jamaican dancehall star Mavado, real name David Brooke, aka the Gully God, just got is working visa re-issued with a work permit from the United States Embassy in Kingston.
He’s currently in NYC. Mavado working permit was revoked in 2009 along with Djs Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Busy Signal and Vybz Kartel.
Mavado will be conducting a series of interviews in the Usa to promote a new label he recently formed. Congrats to di Gully God!

Different story for Buju Banton.He’s has been transferred from the Pinellas County Jail to the Citrus County Jail in Tampa, Florida.
He will be processed by correctional staff at that penal facility before he knows where he will spend his 10 year sentence for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kg of cocaine.
His attorney, David Oscar Markus, told the press that the prison board had not yet decided which prison Banton will be housed
Despite being sentenced to 10 years, the Grammy winning artist could be set free in six years as his 18 month remand while awaiting the outcome of his trial and good behaviour while in prison could see him spending just six years.
Last week Buju expressed his intention to use the time he has to spend in jail studying and get a bachelor degree while serving the time.
