New beefs are heating up an already hot summer in dancehall music:

Jamaican artists Mavado & Popcaan started arguing last month with two diss songs at each other.

Their beef dragged in also recording artist Demarco, which Mavado dissed for his long friendship and loyalty with Kartel & Gaza.

Since Demarco got dragged into it, called in by Mavado, the result of this lyrical war are several dancehall war songs among the recording artists involved in the new argument.

Which brings some salt back in a scene that was starting getting a little watered away in love and party songs, but don’t you worry, the clash in Jamaican dancehall music is back on.

Let’s go in order. Popcaan recorded a couple of songs with Mavado like ‘Lighters Up’ with Snoop Dog, things were cool back then, but in the latest months all of a sudden, Popcaan released the track World Cup, which quickly became a nuclear smashing hit of the summer and things went quickly sour between Unruly Popcaan and Gully God Mavado.

Mavado replied with Go Fi Dem.

The lyrical war has now soared to higher levels as an alleged ‘leaked’ response track created by Mavado was played this pass wednesday, by popular selector Foota Hype at a weekly event called Galis Wednesdays held at Limelight.

Unruly boss Popcaan released then a new song titled Dutty Dread where he says Addi a his daddy.
