sting JAMAICA BOXING DAY DEC 26 2012

The usual excited  atmosphere surrounds every year Sting, the biggest show on Earth that takes place in Jamaica on December 26 – Boxing Day and that this year announced performances from Busy Signal, Tommy Lee, Konshens, Sizzla, Sparta, Ninjaman, Popcaan, Aidonia and many more artists.

Sting, the biggest reggae show on earth, this year was dubbed the The Truth – The 12th Disciples Of Dancehall, and as usual Sting features a good amount of lyrical war and clashes.

Announced this year was the clash between Ninja Man and Kiprich vs Merciless and Tony Matterhorn inside a boxing ring, for the last segment of the show, that went down between 7 and 8 o’ clock of the morning after and saw Kiprich, again, taking the Clash with Ninja Man passing him the belt.

There was also supposed to be a very rumored clash between Spice and Macka Diamond, that at the end didn’t take place, but Spice had a donkey ready for the occasion, Macka Diamond didn’t show up for the Clash. Spice called her many times and  at the end said “Macka run”

But that was not the only drama on the night! Some major drama erupted live on stage between former Portmore Empire members Ryno and Popcaan, and everybody is still talking about it! Bomboclaaat!

Another thing everybody is talking about is how much Sting flopped this year, because beside Kiprich the clash side of it wasn’t all that this year, the show provided a great and big line up of live performances since the early beginning with amazing live shows from Reggae artists Chronixx, Etana, Romain Virgo, Ras Bugle, Sizzla Kalonji, Busy Signal and many more.

Sizzla Kalonji set Jamworld, Sting 2012 on fire and wearing a black suit he delivered several of his biggest hits including “Fire Burn The Whole A Dem,” “Dry Cry, “Good Ways” and more of his classics.

There are already politicians trying to kill dance hall music in Jamaica, so yes this year Sting wasn’t at its full potential but it’s better to have  it that to don’t have it and it’s still a big show that can quickly make or destroy an artist career.

Blak Ryno was supposed to perform before Popcaan but apparently Popcaan had to leave for Africa, so the show organizers put Ryno after Poppi, but Ryno the Stinger wasn’t taking it so he did a quick incursion during Hotskull performance. Popcaan did not take it well and kicked him quickly out of stage, Ryno went back pon stage as quickly and some kicking, running and other commotion took place.

Ryno never had a chance to perform again and Popcaan, all grown up and dressed in an orange casual suit, said that nobody loved the World Boss like him and then he was quickly out to a plane for Africa.

Missing from the show this year were incarcerated artists Vybz Kartel and Buju Bantonas well as Bounty Killer that previously announced, after an argument with Sting’s promoter Isaiah Laing, that he would not go to Sting this year, unless of some apologies from Isaih Laing.

Other big names missing included I-Octane and Beenie Man, they didn’t perform at Sting this year.

WhileVybz Kartel, Buju Banton and Bounty Killer weren’t physically part of Sting show this year, they weren’t forgotten as their names were called many times on that stage.

The first segment of Sting 2k12 opened up among great performances from Mad Scientist, Devious, Destiny from Mobay and Bling Flava Unit sound system, that played a lot of Bob Marley to the thousands of patrons and played Buju’s – Destiny which had all the crowd singing along and Mc Macho, in charge of introducing the early segment singing along too.

Later on Warrior Love from Kingston took the stage and was already time for Deep Jahi’s performance.

Portmore artist Ras Bugle bigged up the independent ladies and sang for the Ghetto Youths, his gig was followed by Fearless King’s and Hit Man’s performances.

A quick appearance from Angelina from Portmore and Key Cee from Canada biggin up Buju Banton and then Lady G representing. After her Food Kartel that started with a parody/remake of one of Damian Marley’s hit single followed by Vybz Kartel’s Back To Life parody bringing along Uncle Food that joined him on stage and sang his back vocals.
