Notnice Records released a new version of his legendary Street Vybz Riddim, and it’s called Street Vybz Riddim Reloaded.
A tribute an homage to World Boss just in time for his b-day, hopefully the last behind bars, since his Appeal Hearing with the Uk Supreme Court (UK Privy Council) will start on February 14th 2024.
Revamping and remastering old riddims it’s a trend in dancehall music right now, recently fueled by Jamaican music producer Rvssian that released a new version of another legendary dancehall riddim : “Go Go Club Riddim”, now called “Dutty Money Riddim”, click here for the full mix of the old and newest version.
“Go Go Club Riddim” was released in 2009 and the following year, in 2010, Notnice Records released “Street Vybz Riddim”, which, as Go Go Club became a classic.
“Street Vybz Riddim” it’s another classic, legendary riddim that generated almost a cult (lol), one of the best juggling ever made, that immediately captured the attention and the ears of dancehall fans all over the world making it a huge success at the time and currently. A riddim that will forever be loved and cherished among the lovers of the genre and the Gaza fans. When it come out in 2010 was under Adidjahiem Records & Notnice Records. More than 14 years later this riddim is still on fire!
At the time Vybz Kartel had so many things going on in his pipeline, he was the mentor and the the Teacher of Gaza/ Portmore Empire, he was running a club The Building, in downtown Kingston with his manager and business partner Corey Todd and he started also the Street Vybz Rum brand, with the bottle of Rum that is also represented in the album cover art. He also had the cake soap on sale and condoms. He was planning finally to launch his skincare line.
When Street Vybz Riddim came out the Street Vybz Rum was the biggest thing in Jamaica and so was the riddim, taking over every yard, every radio, every sound system.
“Street Vybz Riddim”, is a central project that also cemented the link between Vybz Kartel and Notnice that from there on started a collaboration that gifted fans with more masterpieces.
“Street Vybz Riddim” shows the evident and solid Gaza/ Portmore Empire dominancy of the dancehall scene of that time, become immediately viral, and if you weren’t around then, you can still play the original 2010 version, no matter how trained are your ears, from the first listening you will understand why this riddim has been dominating for a decade the dancehall music space. It’s easy to get nostalgic at this point! These were the golden years of the Empire!
Voicing on Notnice Street Vybz Riddim are: Vybz Kartel with “Street Vybz”, and “Pure Love Mi Give Gal”, Shawn Storm with “Vybz Party“, Popcaan with one of his break through song “Up Inna Di Club”, and Merital Family “When Wi Party”. All became legendary tunes!!!
