KARTEL BRINGS FREE ROBOTICS CLASS TO PORTMORE
Official VK Line to host robotics camp inviting students from every high school in Kartel’s hometown
On the heels of the announcement of donation of computers to every high school in Portmore, Official VK Line is announcing their intent to keep a robotics class in Portmore.
“We have engaged Marvin Hall, of Halls of Learning to host a one-day robotics class to be held in Portmore. We will be approaching all the high schools in Portmore to have their students attend,” said Shona-Lee S. Thompson, brand manager of Official VK Line.
Ms. Thompson recently handed over a computer to the principal and students of Greater Portmore High School.
“We have received acceptance from another school and expect to do another hand over very soon,” she said.
This will knock two schools off the company’s list as they had announced a plan to donate computers to every high school in Portmore as part of their GEL Programme; GEL stands for Gaza Education and Literacy.

“We wanted to bring something new and exciting to the children of Portmore, while educating them at the same time,” she said.
The GEL programme seeks to assist in increasing all forms of literacy in the youth of Kartel’s hometown.

They are also involved in outreach programms; in 2008, they brought their programms into 8 underprivileged communities and over 6 years, awarded 800+ scholarships to children who lived there.
Since 2014, through a partnership with the Musson Foundation, Halls of Learning started doing “Lego Yuh Mind Outreach Day” and through that effort has awarded 600+ scholarships to their 1-day event UNICEF featured their work in the Kingston community of Mountain View as a part of their 2015 State Of The Worlds’ Children Report.
They believe that every child, regardless of background must be given access to high quality experiences in learning.
