Vybz Kartel and Squash linked up in a new collaborative hard hitting single titled “Streets”.
As fans of both artists already know, this is not their first collaboration. The two already collaborated for popular music singles like “Beat Dem Bad’ and “Moonwalk”, more recently.
In the new tune Vybz Kartel and the 6ix Boss tell how easy it is to fall pray of the streets, over all for the unexperienced youths.
The new song is full of social commentary, and it explains that if parent and communities are not paying attention, it’s very easy for the streets to influence negatively the youths. Meaning the youths need guidance.
The new music single, as the latest released from the incarcerated Dancehall Star, is produced by Aiko Pon Di Beat and Vybz Kartel Muzik.
The beat is a slow tempo that blends perfectly with the lyrics and both artists voices and flow.
Jamaican recording artist Squash, real name André Whittaker, is part of the popular Montego Bay-based crew ‘6ix’, which includes also recording artists like Daddy 1 and Chronic Law. His name appeared first on the scenes during 2016 when, after getting out of jail, her recorded his first big anthem “Life Story Pt. 1.”
In his verse Squash big ups Jamaican music producer Shab Don, real name Linval ‘Shabba’ Thompson, from Shab Don Records, that was recently arrested for illegal possession of fire arm and was offered bail last week, when he appeared in Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, this past November 17th.
Shab Don is known for his dancehall productions such as Vybz Kartel’s “World Government” – listen here, “One Don riddim” – listen here, and “Any Weather”, the first single to be released on his most popular riddim, the G6ixx Riddim, and one of the baddest songs from Kartel.
Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer, is still behind bars waiting for his appeal to reach the UK Privy Council, process that his lawyers already explained could be lengthy.
Beside the incarceration Vybz Kartel’s music is going as strong as ever, even if his latest album “Born Fi Dis“ was not nominated for Best Reggae Album at the upcoming Grammy Music Awards, two of the albums in the nominees, Etana’s Pamoja with their collaborative single “Baby O” and on Jessy Royal’s album “Rich Forever”, both feature a collaboration with the incarcerated deejay,
Even if not directly nominated Kartel brought good luck to both this artists and their album, making him already a winner!
