Vybz Kartel is a man that has set a lot of trends in dancehall music, Jamaican music and Jamaica.
Among these trends he was able to introduce to his public all of his sons with whom he collaborated with in many tunes.
In his newest music release World Boss links up once again with his own son, Likkle Vybz ,for their latest hit single Daddy Was A Pilot, a song the details the father/ son experience of getting high.
Kartel describes and compares his experience of getting high to free falling without a parachute.
Vybz Kartel and Likkle Vybz new single is produced by Aiko Pon Di Beat, the imprinting that takes the name of his youngest son, in collaboration with Vybz Kartel Muzik. The official audio for the single dropped on October 15th and the day after the official lyric video was updated on Vybz Kartel YouTube account, getting crazy views, thanks also to the cartoon style video, paired with the articulate lyrics, so fans can also sing along.
The record cover is amazing too, a young Vybz Kartel holds in his hands Likke Vybz when he was still just an infant, and in the background there’s a plane’s interior with the captain’s cabin.
And World Boss fans, his loyal Gaza Nation, once again showed up in the comments section of Dad Was A Pilot, having nothing but praises for the latest father and son collaboration.
The visual for the lyric video has been created by Cover Art Express, via a simple but very effective animation of a man, Vybz Karel, falling through the sky to no end without a parachute, but with The Exiled Pharaoh shirt on, exactly as the lyrics of the chorus express.
Kartel plays with the chorus, “How mi get high so?/ Like mi daddy was a pilot and di plane get hijack and mi haffi jump out/ Parachute mi nuh buy dat/ Just a float ina di cloud/ Smoke fume, thugs wid broom like 21 gun salute.” showing once again why he is considered a lyrical mastermind.
Addi The Teacha gets a comet coming to his rescue, as he deejays “Mission accomplished/ I’m out in orbit, a comet is coming for me, morbid/ But my rocket started departed/ Mi smoke di right weed, mi travel light speed,”.
His son’s flow, melodies and lyrics are also worth a mention, Likkle Vybz deejays “Yea/ Weed affi bun/ Spliff ina mi hand, tuck neat a di gun/ Fat pu**y gyal, mi a pree fi gi some/ Smoking indica but she feel fi lay down,” “Grabba release heat but it weak up the lungs/ Hot like street when it meet wid the sun/ Love spend pan weed so mi need fimi funds.” bringing on his verse with a great flow and delivery.
Vybz Kartel already set the trend of father-son collaborative songs, a trend that have been followed recently by Tommy Lee Sparta, a former member of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire, that debuted a song with his son, Skirdle Sparta, following the World Boss example, titled Dior Kicks, click here to listen.
