Adidja Palmer aka Vybz Kartel’s trial was delayed and postponed again so Addi will return to court on July 8 in relation to the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton and also on November 18 in relation to the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
The Vybz Kartel’s murder trials have experienced so many delays within the Jamaican justice system, that two years after his arrest, with news of Jamaican police shooting pregnant women on the bus and beating up innocent kids, is not a surprise that the public eye, the international press, and the fans rightly doubt the fairness of the trials.
Vybz Kartel’s alleged murder case in relation to the shooting death of St. Catherine businessman Barrington “Bossie” Burton was mentioned in the Home Circuit Court on June 10th but was then postponed again to the next date set for July 8th.
Vybz Kartel’s lawyer Tavares-Finson asked the judge to grant his client bail, given the numerous delays and several outstanding disclosures involved in the case, but Taylor objected to Tavares-Finson’s request arguing that the charges against the dancehall star are very serious. Taylor told the court that Vybz Kartel was not only an entertainer, but was also involved in an underground trade of weapons.

The trial was postponed again because prosecutors told the court that they are unable to locate their main witness. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, has indicated that they will proceed with the trial using the witness statement under Section 31 (D) of the Evidence Act.
It was just last week that Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Jeremy Taylor told a judge that Vybz Kartel attempted to bribe the witness in the case with $3 million.
Last month Vybz Kartel other murder trial was also remanded again to November 18. Addi the Teacha has been now behind bars since September 2011.
On June 10th this was the tweet sent out from Kartel’s account
