“This song is my biggest hit since 2009, and I am so grateful to my fans for their support. It’s a great look,” she said.”I also received a Spotify golden plaque for the achievement, I am just so happy right now,” remarked the female Jamaican artist,
that this past Spring 2022 signed to the US based label, inking both a recording and a booking deal Killa Imij Records.
Many Gaza fans will remember her as was one of the first ladies in Vybz Kartel’s now disbanded Portmore Empire, with Lisa Hyper, Gaza Indu and Gaza Slim, but in 2010 her career in the Empire abruptly ended following an alleged assault when she was at Big Yard Studio and she and a group of men got into a verbal altercation.
She was, back then, just a teen-ager, went to the press reporting the beaten up and later on had to be medicated at hospital, when talking the press she said that was Vybz Kartel that ordered the beating.
Vybz Kartel released immediately at that time a statement denying any accusations and condemning any violence against women and children.
Talking recently about the episode, Kim opened up saying:
“It was very hard. I must say, the strong woman I am inside told me to never give up. I am always recording songs and always looking forward,” she said.
After leaving the Gaza Camp, Gaza Kim changed her name to just KYM, but she went back to her old moniker now.
Jamaican TV host and journalist Winford Williams featured Gaza Kim on an OnStage Extra Episode performing some of her biggest tunes, watch it below.
