“Real Talk” Exclusive Interview With Dancehall Emperor Shabba Ranks

Shabba Ranks interview about Vybz Karteljamaican sing jay Tigershabba ranks and tiger 2011

Legendary Jamaican dancehall star Shabba Ranks was in South Florida this past week end, touring with another Jamaican legend, sing-jay Tiger.

Miss Gaza had the pleasure to ask Mr. Shabba Ranks few questions, before his concert in Florida, with Tiger, finally back on american soil for the first after 17 years.

Shabba Ranks is  a very fresh, real, nice, on point artist and  even if he  does not release man new music now a days, he is clearly still on top of any game. The whole atmosphere surrounding the man was fresh and nice and the audience was eager to hear and greet Dancehall Emperor Shabba Ranks and Tiger.

Mr Shabba is an artist with 2 Grammy Awards and a career that brought him on international stages already in 1980. He’s a real veteran and a king. He worked with a lot of big  artists in Jamaica and overseas, with a wide range of artists, from Chuck Berry to Krs One as well as Busta Rhymes and Akon.

Shabba ‘s name is also linked  to the stylistic origin of Reggaeton with his 1991 song “Dem Bow” from his album Just Reality. The “Dem Bow Riddim” produced by Bobby Digital Dixon became so popular and inseparable from freestyle reggaton sessions in Puertorico so much that reggaeton in his early stage was simply called “Dem Bow”.

One of Shabba’s biggest hit remain “Mr Loverman” that also made him so big in the world and many other hits followed like “Respect”, “Pirates Anthem”, “Trailer Load A Girls”, “Wicked inna Bed”, “Caan Dun”, and “Ting A Ling”.

Shabba made a partial comeback in 2007 when he appeared on a song called “Clear The Air” by Busta Rhymes, which also features Akon. Shabba more recently released a single on Big Ship’s Pepper Riddim called “None A Dem”, a big tune that came out in April 2011 and sparkled rumors of a controversy between him and Vybz Kartel,

As for more recent times Shabba performed live on this past edition of Best Of The Best, and his live show was literally breathtaking to witness. His gig is a big thing because he is still an artist in top form: he’s in a great shape, mentally, lyrically and physically and his live is very powerful, energetic and unforgettable.

If you been lucky enough to witness Shabba live you know he delivers a real unforgettable experience …not mention that all the ladies still go crazy for him and his tunes.

Check below Mr Shabba himself speaking about “None of Dem”, his latest single produced by Di genius Records, in this exclusive interview, Shabba explains loud and clear why he has no beef with Kartel or any other artist, his future projects which are  ive shows all over the world and what he think about this late explosion of police brutality.

As Shabba likes to say he was the first one to make love to Dancehall  music so everybody  that came after him is either a kid or a nephew to him. Respect Mr Shabba! Him Really Big!
