It was an epic return for Vybz Kartel’s interview Onstage TV with Winford Williams. More than 14 years in the making.
Vybz Kartel’s humor once again was unmatched and he was very elegant and digging into all the different topics and some tough questions Winford was asking him.
During the 45 minutes long interview, Kartel explained he is not bringing back the Gaza, they will certainly re-unite in family re-unions in the future, but he is not trying to bring back the Portmore Empire, he already launched their careers to stardom, no reason to re-do it since they have been branching out pretty good on their own.
When specifically asked about Gaza Kim and Gaza Slim, Addi said he did not see them and they are abroad, and that’s was it on the topic. He rather launch new career, of local young youths full of talent.
Elaborating about his relationship with Popcaan, Kartel was very truthful as well explaining that when he went to prison Poppi switched management and initially that move was not sitting well with Kartel, then his sons did the popular Radio track and that was about it, but he always kept a strong link with Poppi once that episode was metabolized and they have been recording some new tracks together as well they kept a link via Facetime. Kartel made it clear him and Poppi are good and have a tight link!
It seemed Winford Williams wanted to ask the Teacha some tough questions here and there but Kartel’s was so genuine and wholesome and real, it was no match.
When asked if it was true that he cried a couple of times in jail and one was for his baby mother Shorty Tanesha Palmer, Kartel laughed and denied it correcting he cried when Shorty’s mother died and when Mad Suss mother died as well, that he became emotional behind bars, but Addi made it clear that was not related to Shorty allegedly cheating on him. He also explained he has great relationships with all his baby mothers and, since he was spotted to an event in the past days, where also Shorty was attending, that they both were there to support their son but they are not re-uniting in that sense.
Talking about his incarceration that lasted more than 13 years, Vybz Kartel, real name Adidija Azim Palmer, says he never had a doubt that he and his co=accused would come out, he always believed in it and gives to his lawyer Isaat Buchanan 100% credit for the outcome of his trial, going on to tell the story that when he went in jail Isaat just started going to law school and was telling people he will be known as the lawyer that would freed Vybz Kartel.
Kartel explains that he always felt like the universe was assisting him and all the things fell in place organically one by one.
Winford Williams asked him also many other things, about Vybz Kartel’s new and old business ventures, about Gaza Nation, being the King of The Dancehall and future plans.
