Once upon the time there was a very cool place called Jazid, located in South Beach, in Washington Avenue, in the 305.
Every Sunday Kulcha Shok General Lance-o would throw his Sunday reggae only party, that was also known as “Church” among the local and regular attendees.
Well some pretty cool party, Djs set and live performances went down in there and the Marleys brothers and their all entourages would stop by to bless the party every once in a while, and the party would lit up ever more… Awww those were the days, Miami! Now Jazid is no more but Kulcha Shok’s Reggae Parties are still going strong, they relocated to Wynwood.
If you were lucky enough to attend one of this legendary Church Sunday’s party you know what are we talking about, if not enjoy a little photo reportage from Lance-o’s own Birthday party that goes back to 2011 featuring Jamaican singer Half Pint performing live and a deejay set from Walshy Fire, Black Chiney.
Last week a couple of cool B-Day Parties went down in the 305 area.
One was Kulcha Shok Lance-o’s Earth Strong celebration, at Jazid, with Miami’s own band Jahfe’ and Jamaican legendary singer Half Pint live performances.
Lance-o and his sound system Kulcha Shok run a successful Sunday Reggae Party in Miami Beach called Reggae Sundays Church and for his B-Day celebration legendary Reggae singer Half Pint was in the house.
Half Pint was the first major artist produced by Prince Jammy and earned his future stage name early on for his small size. He recorded some of the genre’s early classics during the first half of the ’80s.
The artist was in amazing shape and sang most of his hits, sharing the mic with Ras King.
Right after Half Pint’s performance Walshy Fire , Black Chiney’s Camp prodigy, lightened the room with some maaad classic tunes keeping all the patrons there til the last song. The kid is gifted and his set mystical! Big ups Walshy Fire!
A late nite set from Exit Sound, a sound system straight from Japan, closed the ceremonies.
