Buju Banton And Vybz Kartel New Albums Enter Billboard Reggae Album Chart

Jamaican Dancehall superstars Buju Banton and Vybz Kartel have both entered the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart.

Buju Banton’s “Upside Down 2020”, his first studio album in a decade, Stream Buju Banton Upside Down 2020 album, has debuted at number two, while Vybz Kartel’s ‘Of Dons & Divas’, click here to stream it in full, debuted at number six and it also enters the Top Current Album Sales chart at 80.

Both albums were released the same day Friday, June 26.

Currently topping the Billboard Reggae Album chart, for the past 26 weeks and more, is still reggae legend Bob Marley’s 1984 album, ‘Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and The Wailer’s.’ , followed by Buju’s new album while in third position is Shaggy’s ‘Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection’, followed by Sean Paul’s ‘Dutty Classics Collection. As you can easily see both Buju & Addi are in great company.

Data for the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, are compiled to include a universe of retailers that represent more than 90% of the U.S market for sales, these datas are inclusive of digital streams and downloads.

Buju Banton last peaked at number one on the Reggae Albums Chart in 1997 for ‘Inna Heights’ as his Grammy-winning album ‘Before The Dawn’ in 2010, only peaked at number two.

Vybz Kartel is yet to have a number one album on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, with his highest-charting album and only other album to make the Top 5, coming in at number two in 2016, being ‘King of the Dancehall.’

Kartel’s ‘To Tanesha’ album released earlier this year, did not chart on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart yet.

While Buju released his “Upside Down 2020” once he was finally free and back in Jamaica after almost 10 years behinds bars, for Kartel this is the inverse process: he has been now behind bars for almost 10 years and released since four albums and differents EP and collections since his incarceration that goes back to 2011.
