Big Ups Gyptian! The Jamaican reggae star was among 10 Top Artists/Bands for MTV Iggy’s “Best New Band In The World”.

Gyptian didn’t win the MTV Iggy World contest, but his performance in Time Square was outstanding anyway! He was competing with bands and artists from all over the world, the contest collected more than 4 millions votes from around 168 countries.

Among the contestants the Korean girl band 2NE1 won the competition and went to NYC – MTV’s headquarters in Times Square to perform. They were joined by Gyptian, Yuna from Malaysia and La Vida Boheme from Venezuela.

The concert was streamed live online on Monday on mtviggy.com and was also on the gigantic screen in Time Squares. During the showcase Gyptian was called “One of Jamaica’s hottest musical exports in recent years.”

Gyptian is also scheduled to perform at New Year’s Eve celebrations at Times Square in New York City, on another MTV’s coverage of New Year’s Eve, and even if not an Mtv fan, it is one of the largest New Year’s celebrations with more than two million viewers, so it will be very good looking for the Artist that has an album coming out in the new year.

Gyptian climbed everything last year with his hit Hold Yuh: he won Soul Train Awards, was on top of the Billboard, local charts, airplay. The Nicki Minaj remix of the the hit make it even bigger.

Currently working on finishing his album he’s been doing several live gigs in the US in the past few months. He performed in NYC, with Shaggy, at Joe’s Pub, for a charity event not too long ago.

His latest live appearance  was on BB King’s stage downtown NY, for Joel Chin VP Records Tribute concert, two days ago. He will be live again from Times Square for New Year’s Eve Celebrations.
