According to his lawyer, Kartel did get his first shot, together with other inmates from The Horizon Centre, of a dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine, and will have to be jabbed again in around six weeks.

As Gaza fans well know Vybz Kartel is always at the center of a lot of talks. He was again in the spotlight during the exclusive phone interview of a few weeks ago with Lisa Evers, on Fox-5 New York, where he spoke about his fragile health conditions experienced in the past years behind bars, confirming he is now doing better. Probably to avoid serious consequences in case of contracting the virus while behind bars, Kartel expressed to his lawyer the desire to take the shot.
Being Vybz Kartel an influencer and being most of the Jamaican people very diffident of the vaccine, the Jamaican Government has been toying with the idea of Vybz Kartel being at the forefront of the “every vax counts” campaign that is ongoing in Jamaica.
Fellow dancehall star Ding Dong, has joined the Ministry of Health’s campaign, but Vybz Kartel would probably have declined to join hands with the Government.
The Teacha has been very vocal during the years, from his book The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto to his teachings via his songs and his posts on social media, in where he stands when the topic is politics: Kartel does not trust the system and is unlikely he will adhere to the campaign with a pro-vax song to boost the vaccination campaign in Jamaica.
One thing if he believes in the science behind the vaccine and one other thing is to help the system. But we will see since Kartel is unpredictable, maybe if they offer a cut on the years of his sentence, that would be just fair.
How hypocritical to look for Kartel when is convenient to them, but let him behind bars all these years, when his phone was tampered with by the police during his trial, as many readers will recall.
