65th Grammy Awards 2023 Best Reggae Album Nominees: Koffee, Kabaka Pyramid, Protoje, Sean Paul And Shaggy
The nominations for the 65th annual Grammy Awards have been released, and for the first time in two years, the nominations list for Best Reggae Album is finally back at being completely Jamaican.
The 65th Grammy Awards will take place next February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will feature a great amount of talent from across all musical genres.
The 2023 nominees for the Grammy Awards for the 65th annual ceremony have been shared by host John Legend, that went live this past Tuesday morning listing all the names of the artists that made it to the final draft.
Since its inception in 1985, the Best Reggae Album award has only seen two non-Jamaican winners: Steel Pulse from England and last year edition where reggae band SOJA based in the United States, took home the 64th Grammy Award for the Best Reggae Album category, among some serious controversy. When SOJA beat out five other Jamaican artists to grab the award a lot of fans went very vocal on social media and words have been flying.
Thankfully this year the nominees are all Jamaican and the bets are opened since Shaggy and Sean Paul are seasoned winners and Koffee is a new veteran, while Protoje has been previously nominated for his album A Matter of Time, in 2018 this is instead the first-time for Kabaka Pyramid.
While everyone has their own preferences on which album should be winning, one thing is for sure it will be a Jamaican to bring home the Grammy for Best Reggae Album next year.
