Demarco Popcaan Beefing?

Demarco Kingston City Official Music Video March 2012

There are strong rumors of an alleged beef between Jamaican reggae dancehall music artists Demarco and Popcaan.

Apparently some people think one of Demarco latest single, Kingston City, where he voices on Rick Ross Stay Scheming Riddim, is a song that disses Popcaan. Re-posting it, if you missed the official video, that came out last month.

Demarco is currently in the studio recording his upcoming mixtape titled Nuh Dirt and he says that are the fans that are crediting the song as a diss.

The song was a freestyle intended to be for ZJ Chrome and the new mixtape, and he did not intentionally started a feud, but however in case somebody took it as a diss he is lyrically ready to defend himself. Also while the video is titled Kingston City, somebody says it was filmed in Portmore, and in the song Demarco bigs up Cassava Piece.

In ‘Kingston City’, Demarco deejays that a bunch of people stole his own style, including Popcaan. Demarco doesn’t fret tho, his single – Love My Life –  got 25 million views on YouTube and he is already been performing all over the world.

Here one of Demarco‘s line in Kingston City :

“Nuh mek mi mek forensic white chalk the street, yaaooow!

Dem tief mi style and nuh ask mi fi it, mi hear behind mi back some bwoy a beat off dem beak but tell dem wey mi si heart nuh leap.”

Popcaan recently released a new single, titled Fry Yiy, also rumored to be a diss that aims to Demarco. He goes: ‘The whole place a sey Fry Yiy, some bwoy fi write some hit song and stop cry.’

So now there’s a new Demarco tune out – titled Duppi Haffi Mek on Aktion Pak Riddim- and  Demarco sings – battybwoy dem go a hell and pick up many soap –

If you listen carefully to all the songs involved in this new Dancehall feud, you’ll understand why they’re arguing.

While voicing on #TNS Riddim with Throw Me Corn, Demarco clearly underlines he is the originator of that yaaooow! that quickly became Popcaan new signature.

What to say. A lot of their fans wrote in various forum that is just not fun to see two of their favorite artists beefing. It’s not a matter of who is bigger. Demarco has been around longer and he is surely more known and has more notches under his belt.

In the same time it’s easier to beef that taking the higher road. And not sure more beef is what Dancehall music and the World need right now.

Demarco is a veteran and a gifted artist and doesn’t has to prove himself. Popcaan is a fresh artist to the mainstream scene, he is having a fast progressing career and raising to the top because he is skilled and he works a lot, maintaining  his own formula, like Addi his daddy.

Also Poppi has been starving and singing for quite few years, he didn’t just voiced on Lost Angel Riddim and got famous. The young Andre Sutherland is making a lot of noise and he is the hottest thing in Dancehall right now where all the youths, over all the young ladies, go in a frenzy wherever he appears.

Popcaan was recently featured in The New York Times, and described as “The Dancehall Master”, after already being also featured in Complex Magazine, few months ago.

His hit single The Only Man She Want on Lost Angel Riddim – Sonique Recordsfrom last summer, gave him a lot of popularity in the US market where it is still getting a lot of airplay. The song also made it in the Billboard and he was nominated one of the 20 relevant artist for 2012 from BBC this past Janaury. Not to mention the recent and successful release of his mixtape Why Yiy, a perfect blend of his baddest tunes and freestlyes!

A lot of accomplishments for the young Jamaican recording music artist Popcaan since the new year started. Ghetto youth rising. Now to be the hottest thing of the moment it ain’t easy and to stay relevant it’s even harder. So big up to both artists, because they are both champions and for their status in the Dancehall industry right now.

Let’s wish dem to do a song together in the future than drag the beef forever.
