Adidja Vybz Kartel Palmer is back in the Home Circuit court this week, for his ongoing murder trial.

Vybz Kartel, along with Shawn “Storm” Campbell, and friends Kahira Jones, André St John, and Shane Williams are all on trial for the alleged murder of their former associate Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Evidence before the court in the Vybz Kartel murder trial has shown that the SD card from the phone with a message about chopping up ‘Lizard’ was modified on September 30, hours after it was seized in the murder investigation.

Police Detective Patrick Linton said that he never modified any information on the SD card and he denied adding a section to the tape about chopping up Lizard “fine, fine”.

Linton previously testified that persons not authorized by him had used a phone seized in the Vybz Kartel’s murder case.

He said that he didn’t authorize anyone to use the phone on October 6 and 9th 2011. But under further cross examination Tuesday by attorney-at-law Pierre Rogers, who asked if unauthorized persons used the phone, Linton said that he couldn’t speak to unauthorized persons using the phone.

The Jamaican cyber cop is back on the hot seat as defense attorneys grilled him about the authenticity of the phones and the data. In a series of messages extracted from one smartphone, one police said Lizard’s body was chopped up and disposed of.

Attorneys representing the accused men are now saying the the SD card from that phone was modified on September 30, 2011, just a couple hours after Vybz Kartel was arrested at a hotel in Kingston. The plot grows ticker.

Vybz Kartel’s lead attorney Tom Tavares-Finson, has poked holes in the credibility of witness detective sergeant Patrick Linton arguing that the video evidence presented was modified. 

Mr. Finson also states that the witness is part of a conspiracy to imprison Vybz Kartel and the men accused.
