War Lord and Alliance President Bounty Killer announced that his studio album “King Of Kingston”, will drop this month just in time for the holiday season.
As the music known as dancehall continues to change and evolve, it looks like Bounty Killer, one of the fathers of the genre, wants to tell the world of what the true sound of dancehall is.
That’s at least according to one of his Instagram post, shared with his fans last month. The veteran dancehall star is aware that dancehall music is changing, but he strongly believes that there is still a need for what used to be the original sound of the genre.
Dancehall legend Bounty Killer, real name Rodney Price, was able to put together a song featuring top stars like Vybz Kartel and Busy Signal, for the first time on a track together, titled “Dat’s Gadzilla“.
In the explosive tune, Kartel and Busy tell of the work and impact the War Lord had during the years of their careers, on the genre and on other dancehall artists, so much so he is Godzilla!
The dancehall track is produced by Tall King Productions and is a serious tune, super lit, top quality, where all the deejays deliver a lyrical assault on the soundtrack, all going in hard.
Vybz Kartel has been sampled at the beginning of the track repeating Bounty Killer’s name, and saying “Dat’s Gadzilla” and more into the track he delivers a whole verse paying homage to Killa for how he helped pave the way and shaped the careers of many young dancehall artists, including himself, at the beginning of his career.
Busy Signal goes in his verse also paying homage to the Alliance’s General putting forward his total loyalty for Killa with his super skilled touch and delivery.
Bounty shared the cover of his awaited album “King Of Kingston”, with his fans last month, hyping up the wait for an album which he promised that will be both “authentic” and “hardcore.
He wrote:
“I heard lots of complaints from genuine music fans and music lovers across the globe, about the sound state and condition of dancehall today which most of us can agree that’s it confusing at times,” he began.
“But the change is inevitable however so I decided to gather a bunch of artists, producers, musicians and writers to try and remind today’s fans what authentic hardcore international dancehall sounds like,” he added.
“Well my album coming for Christmas. My album not gonna be a summer project, because a summer dem caan get di food one time,” Bounty said while on Instagram Live with Spice.
