Way Too Unreasonable to be “Treesonable” About The Herbs:Yaadcore Releases 420 Inspired EP
In celebration of the culture and unity of cannabis, Yaadcore has released the “Treesonable EP” to commemorate the holiday this April 20.
This five track, marijuana inspired works is the artist’s first official compilation since the 2022 “Reggaeland” album.
As a distinguished and experienced connoisseur of ganja, the EP expresses Yaadcore’s profound ability to reason about all things herb, delivered in his signature roots-reggae style.
“To how dem still a fight ganja, this EP speaks on that. Making marijuana illegal is one of the biggest treasons against humanity,” says Yaadcore. “That is my inspiration and reasoning for the title, so this 420 I wanted to pay respects to the Empress plant, and share some works in livication to the healing and power of such an ostracized medicine. It’s nature’s gift to us and we just celebrate that miracle.”
The EP comes just in time for global 420 festivities. Treesonable includes two brand new tracks produced by Bob Riddim and Panta Son, with dub versions mixed by Laurent “Tippy I” Alfred.
Presented by Delicious Vinyl Island and 12 Yaad Records, it captures Yaadcore’s iconic ganja-meets-reggae vibe that he has been affiliated with since his early days in music.
Timely and true, Treesonable is a soliloquy to the mystic herbs and a must-listen for all who celebrate the holiday.
About Yaadcore
From game-changing DJ to groundbreaking artist, Yaadcore is one of the most unique and intriguing figures in today’s Jamaican reggae scene. After gaining prominence as the essential selector of the reggae revival movement headlined by acts like Protoje and Chronixx, Yaadcore has emerged into a powerful and influential artist in his own right. On the heels of breakout singles “Ready Now” and “The Calling”, the now full-time vocalist released his debut album ‘Reggaeland’ in March 2022.
Born Rory Cha, Yaadcore was raised in Mandeville, Jamaica, where he learned the art of “playing sound” from his father, a selector with local reggae sound system, Love People International.
After first gravitating to dancehall, he found his calling within the seeds of what would come to be known as the reggae revival — a close-knit group of young singers, deejays and musicians who were blending the upfull, cultural vibes of classic roots reggae with a modern approach to music-making and branding.
As a DJ for local radio station Bess FM, he gave many of the scene’s key acts their first airplay. When Vogue Magazine came to Kingston to document the scene for its 2015 feature on “Jamaica’s New Reggae Movement,” he was rightly highlighted as one of its essential players.
