Dancehall Music lost another of his members this past Thursday night.
Derrick Edwards known as Corey, from Merital Family has been shot 5 times to his head.
I saw the graphic picture – too much…not feeling like sharing it, is not the way we want to remember him. From the image shared by the press it seems like he has been shot from the side, he fell flat on his head, still holding onto his car keys, in much blood. So sad.

Derrick Edwards, also known as Corey was a member of legendary Portmore Empire Dancehall group Merital Family. He was shot and killed in Montego Bay Jamaica leaving once again the whole Dancehall community in shock for another violent death to make sad history.
Merital Family was a well known Dancehall group based in Flankers, Montego Bay, that become part of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire. Merital members Corey, Duwain Samuels, Noel Mason (Blade) and Trovoy Keneale Bracket all departed from the Gaza with some royalty issues and raised to fame with the song “My Money Ah Ah Ah” for which they claimed Kartel‘s did take credit an that’s was reason why they left the Gaza Empire.
Before Vybz Kartel Merital Family was known as a dance group in Mobay. They created dance moves that become popular like Dutty Wine,Frog Back and Buss A Wine.
After the split from Portmore Empire, Merital Family kind of faded and disbanded: Bracket was arrested in Usa for drug trafficking, Mason went solo and Corey had told the media “he was the last man standing“,like in a famous Kartel‘s song.
