Since proudly stepping into the music arena like “a walking trophy,” Tina Pinnock, better known as Hood Celebrityy, has taken the industry by storm with her distinctive delivery and spitfire lyrics championing self-esteem and female empowerment, as such we’ve been liking her a lot.
Fans of dancehall music have been caught in the whirlwind that is the Bronx-based recording artist who spent her early childhood in Portmore, Jamaica. As the industry and fans alike are getting to know the charismatic talented artist, Mass Appeal has joined her on a journey to her roots.
“Growing up in Jamaica was very beautiful,” says HoodCelebrityy, the Bronx-based recording artist whose smash dancehall hit “Walking Trophy” gained her international recognition and a deal with Epic Records. Born and raised in Portmore, the same neighborhood as dancehall stars like Vybz Kartel and Popcaan.
Now that HoodCelebrityy is a major recording artist, her first trip home was a major adventure—reconnecting with family she hasn’t seen in years, performing live for the first time in front of a tough Jamaican crowd, and shooting a music video for her latest single “Inna Real Life.” And Mass Appeal was there every step of the way to capture the action.

On Friday August 21st, Mass Appeal premieres the documentary “Jamaica Inna Real Life”, a film about Hood Celebrity whose worldwide hit “Walking Trophy” landed her a deal with Epic Records.
“Hood Celebrity is managed by KSR Productions, the same team that brought Cardi B to stardom,” stated producer Reshma B. “In fact, she and Cardi came up together but her style is more dancehall influenced due to the fact that she was born in Jamaica. She moved to New York with her family when she was just 12 years old. Hood came to the U.S. as one of the DACA children or ‘Dreamers‘ that we’ve been hearing about a lot in the news lately.”
“Our documentary follows her back home to Jamaica, reuniting with family she hasn’t seen in years, performing in Jamaica for the first time, and shooting the music video for her latest single “Inna Real Life,” which was directed by Picture Perfect, who also directed Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow.” added director Rob Kenner.
“It was a privilege that Hood trusted us enough to join her on this ride.”
