Latest Updates in Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones and Andre S John’s Appeal trial.

While Kartel’s legal team scored the first and bold victory and this past monday looked like in the first day of the trial there was so much progress and accomplishments made, but there are some other news to keep in consideration.

Currently the trial has been adjourned to next week July 16th and the biggest thing is that the judge cut in half the allowed timed to discuss the appeal trial. Originally thought to extend and take course during a window time of three weeks, the President of the court of Appeal decided this appeal has to be a way quicker process and should be all over in a week, 10 days at the most.

What this means for Vybz Kartel and co-accused? This means that both the defense team and prosecution will have less time to make their arguments in front of the court. The defense will have only one day to present and make their arguments in front of the court, as well as the prosecution will have just one day to make their arguments.

“Each appellant has up to one day to make the points you wish to make,” President of the Court of Appeal Justice, Dennis Morrison, said.

The judge told the lawyers to use the rest of the week to review their presentation. The appeal case was scheduled to run for three to four weeks, but now it will be one to two weeks.

On Monday, Vybz Kartel’s attorney, Queen’s counsel Valerie Neita-Robertson, and Shawn Storm’s attorney, Bert Samuels, convinced the appellate court judges to enter new evidence in the appeal case. The new evidence presented to court would also demonstrate that Clive Lizard cell phone was active in Kingston at the time of his murder and not at Kartel’s Havendale house where allegedly the incident happened.

That dealt a significant blow to the prosecution’s case leaving most feeling optimistic about the possible developments of the next hearing on Monday 16th.

As for Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer, he won’t be attending his appeal trial.

The dancehall star opted, together with his lawyers to await the outcome in jail. He is kind of anxious about the trial and he does not want or need to attract media and fans attention in a moment like this.

His presence at the trial will be drawing too much attention attracting crowds and the whole media circus that could potentially create more bad attention than good. All the attention need to be on the case,

Vybz Kartel is totally confident in his legal team.
