The 54th annual Grammy Awards is scheduled for February 12, 2012.

The first Reggae album awarded, 28 years ago, was ‘Anthem’, Black Uhuru while the last Reggae artist that won a Grammy was Buju Banton with his album ‘Before The Dawn’.

This year nominees list for Best Reggae Album at the 54th annual Grammy Awards include previous Grammy-Winning Dancehall/Reggae superstars, Shaggy, Stephen Marley and Ziggy Marley , which are three of the five contenders for the Reggae award at next year’s show.

Stephen and Ziggy Marley are each going for their third Grammy, while Shaggy will look for his second award.

Stephen Marley has been nominated for his album, ‘Revelation Pt 1: The Root of Life’ ; Ziggy earned his nomination for – ‘Wild & Free’ Reggae Album and Shaggy for his latest album ‘Summer in Kingston’.

Other contenders for Best Reggae Album include Monty Alexander for ‘Harlem-Kingston Express Live’ and Israel Vibrations for ‘Reggae Knights’.
