Watch some of the video highlights of this last edition of Sting Jamaica 2022.
The biggest reggae show on earth returned this year at a new location at Plantation Cove in Priory, St Ann, this past Monday, December 26 2022.
Did this edition of Sting delivered? There are mixed and animated opinions about it, let’s focus on the good things first.
A great line up of upcoming and also some veteran reggae dancehall stars were able to perform and make it on Sting’s 2022 stage, after a 7 years hiatus the show was greatly missed and patrons flocked to the new venue in great numbers.
Jamaican reggae singers Etana e Fantan Mojah took stage, as well as Gyptian, Kiprich, Chris Martin, all dress to kill in pure Sting fashion!
For the ladies Vanessa Bling and Jada Kingdom both killed it and did great, displaying grace, stage presence and class! Pamputtae, Dovey Magnum, Maya and all the other ladies put in their efforts both the way of their look and delivery.
Now the bad: plagued by a time issue since the start of the show Skeng, Jahshii and Valiant and more artists were unable to perform on stage, the crowd was weary and moody and there have been a couple of bumps and dull moments with an empty stage, not to mention police ended the show abruptly before the biggest headliners could touch stage, with great disappointment to the artists themselves and the paying audience.
Bounty Killer himself shared a video of a SOCA festival in Jamaica, packed, jumpy, happy, blazing, people were having fun and there have been no accidents… a shark contrast with Sting that dragged on wearing the crowd, run out of time, was ended by police and included some serious drama backstage toward the early morning with thugs clashing and guns being drown out by police officers that went on stage to interrupt and ended the show.
As host Nicky Hype stated while introducing the acts these are all young deejays and they deserve a chance, so give them a chance! Considering most of the headliners were new comers that never went on Sting’s Stage before.
This edition showed and even without big established names, Sting still attracts big crowds!
But there some complaints that have been aired by artists and patrons regarding this year’s edition and are about the fact that a lot of performing acts that went on most of the hours of the popular live stage show were not so talented, some defined them “amateur sets” of minor performers that took most of the time of the show, lasting for many hours and tiring the audience.
Anyhow let’s watch some clips of some of the most awaited acts and if you are thirsty for more watch the full 7 hours show scrolling to the bottom.

Some of the billed artists like Skeng, Valiant and Jahshii, which were supposed to be the main attractions of the show, could not perform on stage for matter of time running out and Valiant ended up spitting his verses on top of his car from Sting’s parking lot, and dissing Sting for his missed stage gig, calling the show trash.
Valiant Performing At Sting Parking Lot
His performance on stage followed a brief clash between Malie Donn and Pablo YG, who was escorted off the stage. Valiant began his performance with his hit Speed Off and several artistes joined him on stage, so he entertainer was only able to perform the intro to his song, Dunce Cheque, as all the performers struggled to get time on the mic.
Even when dancehall female artist Dovey Magnum stepped out to perform, she had to share with the patrons that the artists had to share the mic. With the police bringing the event to a close, the Bawl Out singer was only able to perform briefly before the stage show came to an end.
Jahshii had to greet fans in the parking lot and spoke momentarily with members of the police force as well.
Stage time should have been managed in better fashion so to allow everybody to perform.
Another complain is that many patrons attended the show for the announced headliners but they were told most of the act they came to see would not be able to perform because time run out and local authorities started pressing on the show time limit, ending it abruptly.
Faced with time limitations becoming a solid reality with 30 minutes left the early morning crowd was told that there wasn’t enough time left for individual performances, so that many of the remaining artists were forced to share the stage, and apparently this is the time where, for those 30 minutes dancehall and Sting were at their best, boosting some life in a tired audience as several of the line up headliners including Topman, Kiprich, Alozade, Valiant and more took the stage between the clash of YGF Pablo and Malie Don, who also made the clash physical, with Malie tramping some patrons at the end.
