Jamaican Dancehall superstar Konshens delivers the new music video for his latest track ‘Less Is More’, off his latest album ‘Red Reign’ that was released via Ineffable Records last year.
Konshens, born Garfield Delano Spence, is a popular Jamaican dancehall reggae star that has cemented his name in dancehall music, both in his native Jamaica and the rest of the world.
Konshens is the voice behind many of the biggest bashment anthems of the last decade. His songs like “Gal a Bubble” and “Bruk Off Yuh Back” are absolute essentials of the genre, capable of sending dancers into a frenzy the second they’re played in a party.
The recording artist career took off in 2008, when Konshens with his first solo single, “Winner,” a blend of dancehall and hip-hop and he kept building and working hard on his music from that, delivering solid songs and anthems that his listeners could relate to and some of his biggest tunes at the time like “Rasta Imposter” and “The Realest Song” helped his raising popularity.
In 2012, Konshens released his debut solo LP, Mental Maintenance that featured certified anthems like “Gal a Bubble,” “Stop Sign” and “Gyal Sidung,” all considered gyal tunes, waistline-minded anthems known for creating hysteria among the female dancers.
From then on Konshens career has been always upward with extensive touring both in USA and Europe and even while making moves abroad, Konshens is fully focused on elevating the music of Jamaica and bringing dancehall to its rightful prominence within the global music sphere.
“I am trying to bring dancehall back to the glory days — the Sean Paul days, the Shaggy days and the Beenie Man days,” he says. “I am trying to reintroduce dancehall to them from the ground up.”
